  • Summer 2014 Schedule of PREP Seminars

    No matter how far along you are in your career, careful financial and retirement planning are critical. NYSTRS’ Pension & Retirement Education Program (PREP) is designed to help members of all ages accomplish that. Members can tailor PREP to fit their needs by staying for the entire seminar (from 8:30a.m.- 3:30p.m.) or just those modules that help them most: NYSTRS benefits; financial planning; Social Security; estate planning; retirement - a new beginning; filing for retirement; and, retirement income.

  • STEWART'S DONATES TO NEEDY STUDENTS

    The Stewart’s Foundation in Saratoga Springs, NY recently donated $1800 worth of gift cards to the St. Lawrence- Lewis BOCES Title I program to help provide much needed supplies to the over 700 students in St. Lawrence and Lewis County who have been identified as homeless.

  • 2014 BOCES RETIREES

    The St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES Retirees’ Recognition Dinner was held Thursday June 5, 2014 at the Northwest Career and Technical Center in Ogdensburg, NY. The dinner was held in honor of 23 BOCES employees who have retired or will retire this year.

  • AUTISM AWARENESS

    The St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES ABA staff and Lawrence Avenue Elementary School staff in Potsdam got together recently to kick off Autism Awareness Month. April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day. Many members of both staffs gathered in the elementary gym for a photograph, sporting new awareness t-shirts. It is an impressive group, dedicated to providing the best possible services to the nine classrooms of students on the autism spectrum, located at Lawrence Avenue.

    WHAT IS BOCES SURPLUS?

    Lately, our BOCES has been responding to questions about BOCES Surplus. We thought the following points may be helpful for our community members to know. BOCES Surplus is money that was not spent during the year. As such, it is returned to the component school districts. BOCES Surplus is a mandated accounting process that protects school districts and taxpayers because excess funds are always returned. Could you imagine if your village/town/county returned some of your taxes at the end of each year?
