The Beginning Years Program provides evaluations and services to children ages birth to 5 years old who have developmental delays. The Beginning Years Program is sponsored by St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES and is approved by the New York State Education Department.
Our Program Philosophy
The St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES Beginning Years program respects and accepts the unique gifts of every child. We believe that the family is the child's first teacher and the basis for the child's growth in all areas.
At Beginning Years, our program mission is:
*To provide a collaborative team approach in
servicing our students and families.
*To ensure progressive, "best" practice" educational
approaches for our students.
*To provide quality, cost-effective services
that meet the unique needs of our students and their families.
Parental involvement is a vital part of the Beginning Years program. Parents are encouraged to participate in our activities, whether their child is enrolled in a classroom program or receiving their services within the home setting. Child specific team meetings may also be scheduled to discuss progress and approaches to enhance your child's skills. Parental meetings, support groups, and activities are planned throughout the year to provide parents with the opportunity to network and acquire skills to help enrich their child.
