Instructional Resources

The Instructional Resources program provides shared teachers, school improvement services, enrichment programs, and professional development. Programs are guided by the mission of providing the best in educational services to our districts through information, consultation, and training.

Services Include

Arts in Education (AIE)
BOCES operates a shared service designed to integrate the arts into education.  Individual activities may include music, drama, dance, writing, and visual and media arts.
ESEA - Title I Services
A comprehensive service that includes completion of the consolidated application with ongoing support and a basic – technical support level of service are available. Additionally, literacy and math coaching may be requested.
  • Exploratory Enrichment
BOCES operates a shared instructional program in academic or occupational subject matter areas, providing activities that exceed or are different from content offerings found in standard courses.  Program activities may occur in BOCES facilities, shared district classrooms, college facilities, or specialized facilities.
Extra-Curricular Activities
BOCES employees coordinate extra-curricular activities for two or more school districts.  Extra-curricular activities include; those activities not included within the scope of the regular school curriculum, approved or sanctioned organized student activities, or academic or occupational activities involving competition, for which no credit is awarded.
Learning Resources Center
The LRC provides access to a wide variety of materials and services to meet the needs of our member school districts. A van delivery service provides twice a week pick up and drop off of mail, equipment, and interlibrary loan materials; the van runs September through June. The Media Library consists of more than 10,000 curriculum-related videos, DVDs, Big Books, and audiovisual kits; as well as tens of thousands of streaming videos through services such as PBS Learning Media NY and Learn 360.   These items can all be found in SNAP, an indexed, online, searchable catalog.  The Repair Services includes the consultation, diagnosis, repair, transport and/or replacement of damaged or inoperative electronic and computer equipment.
Regional Summer School
A regional summer school is held at three sites (Gouverneur CSD, Massena CSD, and Ogdensburg Enlarged City School). Each site is shared by students in grades 7-12 from two or more participating districts.

School Library System
Established in 1985 by the New York State Legislature, School Library Systems provide cooperative services and professional development opportunities for the libraries we serve.  The St. Lawrence-Lewis School Library System actively promotes equality of service and access to information, regardless of format, to all members of the school community.
School Improvement
The School Improvement Service assists districts in implementing long-range professional and data-based school development plans to meet NYSED requirements and improve student learning and performance. Professional development opportunities meet teacher, school, and district needs based upon plans, data, and state and federal requirements. A data service will be included with the purchase of School Improvement to include Grade 3-8 and Regents (scanned) cumulative, multi-year, reports and graphs. A data service will support district implementation of data-driven instruction.
Shared Services
This service provides administrative services to districts as a District Administrator with specific responsibilities and a job description developed by the individual school district. Service must be shared with two districts or with a BOCES program. Teachers are shared between two or more component school districts to include core area intervention specialists and a variety of other teacher certification areas. Please call with individual needs.
