Communication Specialists help school districts build credibility with their internal and external audiences by communicating in an open and timely manner. The Communications Specialist will be responsible for the preparation of written material, and for editing, gathering, and disseminating informational materials concerning the school district's activities through various media including but not limited to newspapers, radio, television, website, and district publications. The Communications Specialist will also assist administrators with the development and implementation of a public relations plan.
This service will include: assisting districts in identifying effective communication strategies for addressing organizational concerns, achieving organizational goals and supporting the central educational mission of the district, organizing the preparation and distribution of news releases, providing communications advice, assisting in the preparation and dissemination of various types of written material, coordinating the publication of the district newsletter(s) and calendar(s), coordinating the publication and promotion of performances, exhibitions, displays, dedications and other district programs open to the public, and developing ideas for booklets, pamphlets, articles and other informational materials.
Districts may either contract for a FTE Communications Specialist who is based in their schools and who works closely with the administrative team, or they may contract for project-based, per diem work.
