Animal Science will open the 2026-2027 school year and is offered at Seaway CTE Center only.
In Animal Science, students will learn how to care for pets. Study small animal anatomy, health and nutrition while gaining hand-on experience in labs and clinics. Assist with grooming, exams, and feeding while exploring careers in vet care and animal science. Whether you dream of being a vet or working with animals every day, this is where your paws-on career begins!


Units of study in this program:
- Identify species, breeds and animal handling methods
- Understand nutrition, feed, digestion and metabolism
- Practice lab techniques, microscopes, slides and tests
- Diagnois and manage infectious disease and parasites
- Participate in clinical rotations and field sites
- Understand business, record keeping and clinics
Integrated Academic Credits Available: At district request, students may earn
- 1 credit each of Math, Science and English
- .5 credit Career and Financial Management
