Students in Mr. Ostroski’s Culinary Arts program recently traveled to the Culinary Institute of America to compete in the NYSRA ProStart Invitational Individual Burger Battle, a statewide competition where high school students demonstrate advanced culinary skills under industry‑level expectations.
Seaway Tech is proud to share that our students swept the competition, earning 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place against schools from across New York State.
1st Place – Sofie McDermott (Brasher)
Sweet Heat Burger: Homemade BBQ sauce, crispy bacon, and spicy caramelized onions, served with a side of mac and cheese.
2nd Place – Addison Robert‑Bogart (Canton)
Jalapeño Popper Burger: Split and served face‑down in a creamy jalapeño cheese sauce with roasted garlic broccolini.
3rd Place – Bella Slate (Norwood‑Norfolk)
Alfredo Pinwheel Burger: Seasoned burger mixture rolled in bacon, pan‑fried, and finished with a rich parmesan Alfredo sauce.
